Special storytime with Karen George on the 26th June

We are very excited to have award winning illustrator Karen George coming into The Golden Treasury for a very special storytime to launch her new book 'Wake Up Do, Lydia Lou!'. This is Karen's brand new book with children's master storyteller Julia Donaldson, following on from their hugely successful first book together 'Freddie and the Fairy'.

Join us on Wednesday 26th June at 4pm to hear Karen reading her brand new book and also 'Freddie and the Fairy' and watch as she brings the stories to life with her illustrations! Karen will be signing copies of her books at the end. Booking your place is essential as space is limited. If you are unable to attend but would like a signed copy, please do not hesitate to contact the shop.

This book tells the story of how a little ghost tries to give Lydia Lou a scare ...but he can't even wake her up. So he fetches his noisy animal friends to help: Mew! Moo! Too-whit too-whoo! Wake up do, Lydia Lou! Will anything ever wake her? A gentle and playful bedtime read from the author of THE GRUFFALO, full of fun sounds which children will love to join in with time and time again.

Special thanks to Sally Oliphant at Macmillan for helping to set this up.

Maisy Mania!!!!!!

Maisy made a visit to The Golden Treasury and her little mouse friends were there to greet her in style! We enjoyed the new story of Maisy's adventure in the city, also her camping escapades and lastly a low tech but exciting pop-up story of Things That Go!

We also saw lots of concentration during the colouring of the Maisy sheets, winner's photos to be shown soon, so look out for them! We all had such a great time and what a treat to have Maisy come and offer excellent hugs to everyone.

Thank you to Rebecca Harper at Walker Books, our shop mice Felcity and Polly and of course our fabulous customers old and young who make these events so fun! More photos to come.

The Dog Detectives!

Here we are, finally sharing some photos of the Dog Dectectives event! Fin and Zoa came along to The Golden Treasury to share their brilliant stories of Dectective Jack and Deputy Poco Loco, with the two stars in tow (literally!).

Reading to a packed shop, Fin and Zoa shared the amazing adventures of these two doggy PI's as they try to solve mysteries all over the world.

Everyone loved their visit and of course Jack took it all in his stride and lapped up the belly rubs, while little Poco was a bit more comfy under Zoa's chair the whole time.

Thank you to everyone who came! Signed copies are in the shop now!

Judi Abbot - The Biggest Kiss storytime

We were so happy to welcome illustrator Judi Abbot to the shop for a special storytime, where she read her new book The Biggest Kiss which she illustrated. We loved her entertaining storytelling and also Judi held a creative drawing session afterwards. There were lots of unusual combinations of which animal would give a kiss to another animal!

Judi was kind enough to judge The Biggest Kiss colouring competition and picked her favourites. Thank you to eveyone for coming along and also to Judi and Amy.
