A crafty afternoon

Big thanks to Andrea Pinnington who made a return to The Golden Treasury for yet another excellent crafty afternoon to celebrate Independent Booksellers Week!

Andrea put together two crafts, one of paper bead bracelets and another of pirate treasure maps for the day. They were taken from her two new books, Style Queen Creativity Book and The Pirate Creativity Book, great follow-ons from her hugely popular Princess Creativity Book and Dragon Creavity Books!

As you can see from the photos, there are some treasure hunters and fashionistas growing up in Southfields! Thank you to Frank at Carlton.

Caroline Lawrence photos!

We were very lucky to have Caroline Lawrence come to the shop to launch her new book The Case of the Deadly Desperados and we now have some photos! It's been so popular, that we sold out of her signed copies pretty quickly. We still have some hardback copies left at £2 off, so come in and get them while they last.

Thank you to Caroline (amazing outfit!) and the Children's team at Orion.

School author events!

We have had some brilliant school events this last week with some amazing authors! We were very fortunate to have been able to take three excellent and prominent writers to our local network of schools.

Carnegie shortlisted authors Jason Wallace and Theresa Breslin visited schools on the eve of the Carnegie announcement, along with award winning Bali Rai. What an inspiring day for all schools!

Here are some photos of the day. Many thanks to Clare Simms and Lisa Hayden at Random House and Anderson Press, and all the brilliant teachers/librarians who make reading such an exciting part of school!

Customer reviews!

We had a lovely email last week from an enthusiastic young customer who wanted to recommend some books. We loved his reviews, so we thought it would be nice to share them with everyone.

This is what Tom, aged 9, has to say:

Dead Man’s Cove – Lauren St John (Orion Publishing, £6.99)

This is an amazing book for anyone aged 9-11. It’s about an orphaned girl, Laura, who goes to live with her mysterious uncle in St Ives. She meets a great friend and changes his life forever. A great read, 10/10!

Muncle Trogg – Janet Foxley (Chicken House Ltd, £5.99)

Muncle Trogg is an amazingly funny book that anyone between 8-10 should read! Muncle Trogg is a small giant who lives in a mountain with all of the giants, hidden from the terrible Smallings. Muncle finds himself caught up in an adventure with dragons, volcanoes and escapes. It’s brilliant!

The London Eye Mystery – Siobhan Dowd (Random House Children's Books, £5.99)

A great book for everyone ages 9-11. A brilliant story with lots of twists and turns. Ted is a boy with a unique mind. When his cousin, Salim, goes on the Eye but doesn’t come off, Ted and his sister Kat are the first to investigate!

Thanks Tom! Keep up the good work!
