Oblivion launches today!!!

We were very lucky, the kind people at Walker Books sent us an invitation to the launch night for Oblivion at The Ivy. This is the much anticipated final book in the Power of Five series and what a whopper it is!

Anthony was charming and funny, the food the drink was fabulous and the ice sculpture was EPIC!

We can't wait to plough our way through the book and our keen customers are desperate to get their hands on it too!

See the video of Anthony as he visits the Antarctic to research Oblivion.

Wild Child by Jeanne Willis and Lorna Freytag

This is a particular book we were looking forward to being published this year!

Wild Child by Jeanne Willis and illustrated by Lorna Freytag, tells the amazing story of the very last wild child. She is free to swim with the shoal of fishes, to play amoungst the toadstools and to enjoy the freedom of the of the forest with her wild family and explains why she is the only one left, or is she? Jeanne Willis' story is wonderfully lyrical and expressive, making it a lovely reading experience. Exquisite illustrations by photographer Lorna Freytag take us on a journey with our adventerous friend, where we find ourselves wanting to roam the rich landscape with bears and explore the forests with wolves with her. We love her spirit!

Christmas windows

We are all Christmasy here at The Golden Treasury! We thought that we would share our wonderful London themed Christmas windows with you. We took inspiration from the wonderful London 3D expaning skyline book from Walker Books and have created two windows of familiar sights around town.

We hope you like them and have been enjoying them as you pop in and walk past! We're very proud at The Golden Treasury to be a London independent bookshop, so glad to be in such an amazingly diverse city and we love our position in the heart of Southfields.

Thank you to Jo at Walker Books for providing the excellent London skyline cut-outs!

More Maisy photos!

Maisy Mania!!!!!!

Maisy made a visit to The Golden Treasury and her little mouse friends were there to greet her in style! We enjoyed the new story of Maisy's adventure in the city, also her camping escapades and lastly a low tech but exciting pop-up story of Things That Go!

We also saw lots of concentration during the colouring of the Maisy sheets, winner's photos to be shown soon, so look out for them! We all had such a great time and what a treat to have Maisy come and offer excellent hugs to everyone.

Thank you to Rebecca Harper at Walker Books, our shop mice Felcity and Polly and of course our fabulous customers old and young who make these events so fun! More photos to come.

Royal Celebrations!

Dress Up Dollys and Knitted Princesses

To celebrate the upcoming royal nuptials, we decided to enter into the spirit and put in this lovely Royal London window display. Walker Books kindly supplied us with the cut-out of Westminster Abbey (an illustration from their beautiful new London Souvenir Cityscape) and our very own Holly and Annie put the window together around it.

We've carefully selected from the avalanche of books about the Royal Wedding and we think there will be something for everyone. One of our favourites is the William and Kate Dress Up Dolly Book, which is a perfect way to while away the time until the big day (for grown-ups too!). As well as it's eye-catching cover, this book has dozens of different outfits for the royal couple to model.

For your own mini princess, this Royal Wedding Activity Book from
Scholastic is a great way to keep little hands busy over the Easter holidays. From designing the dress to decorating the wedding cake, this book has everything necessary to join in the wedding fun!

We haven't forgotten about the grown-ups, don't worry! We also have the brilliant new Alison Jackson book Kate and Wills Up the Aisle, with hundreds of her trademark lookalike photographs of the Royal Family, as well as the bestselling Knit Your Own Royal Wedding, a joy for those knitting fans among you.

So however you'll be spending the 29th April 2011, don't forget that there are some great books to keep you company and provide a perfect souvenir of the
historic event.
